Descend biography

Descend started as a one man band, founded by Gyula Vasvári (Vee).

He released a demo tape called DecadAnce back in 1999. It featured melancholic guitar melodies, low-mid tempo rythms surrounded by soft, airy synth sounds, but no vocals. I decided to offer him my vocals, and as he liked my samples, we started to work together. We didn’t have any rehearsals, he sent me the stuff he recorded, and I sent him mine. It worked.

The first product of our cooperation was born in 2001, called Disillusioned. It contains 8 tracks of the same style as DecadAnce, but also some faster black metalish parts with raw vocals. My vocals can be heard on 3 of the 8 tracks, so this recording is still mostly instrumental, but it definately shows improvement in the songwriting.

We could say the top of our work is Sunflow, the album we released in 2003. I got significantly better in singing, that is one of the reasons I can be heard on all tracks. Gyula also brought the best of his musical ideas, and Barna Katonka, a talented session drummer helped us out this time.

We split up after Sunflow, and Gyula became the frontman of Neochrome.
