I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that Taranis’s album “Kingdom” was nominated for the Metal Storm Awards 2012. In the fan voting it finished on the 6th rank of the melodic black metal category. However, the staff of Metal Storm had its own vote and selected “Kingdom” as The Best Melodic Black Metal/Metalgaze Album of the Year!

The second album of the Norwegian avant-garde metal band Quadrivium is going to be released by Soulseller Records November 23rd, 2012 in Europe and February 3rd, 2013 in the USA. I’m responsible for clean vocals on this record.

Bakos Attila egyike a legjobb hazai metal énekeseknek, nevét mégse ismerik túl sokan. Pedig karakteres orgánumával nagyban hozzájárult ahhoz, hogy a legutóbbi két Thy Catafalque album, a ’Róka hasa rádió’ és a ’Rengeteg’ ilyen remekül sikerült. Ám Attila nem csak Kátai Tamás zenekarának nívóját emeli, hanem az elmúlt évtizedben szólópályáját is egyengette: idén januárban jelent meg Taranis nevű bandája nagylemeze, a ’Kingdom’, amelyet talán a „progresszív szimfonikus black metal” műfajbesorolással lehetne illetni, de tagja egy Arcturus-szal rokon zenét játszó norvég zenekarnak is, arról nem is beszélve, hogy a neofolk kedvelői számára a Woodland Choirból is ismerős lehet. Attilát karrierjéről, alkotói módszereiről és a friss Taranis albumról kérdeztük.

11 years have passed since the “In Days Of Yore” demo. It was released in 2000, and in the same year I composed an album’s worth of new songs. We split up shortly after, I didn’t plan to release them, but as the years passed by I started to feel that I won’t be able move on until I record these songs. So I finished the 40 minutes long album entitled “Kindgom”, which is the fulfilment of the path we stepped on with our demo.

Thy Catafalque’s “Rengeteg” has just been released by the French label Season of Mist. I’m responsible for the clean male vocals, just as on the previous record, “Róka Hasa Rádió”. This time I can be heard on 8 songs.

A tavaly sok helyütt év albumának választott Thy Catafalque „Róka Hasa Rádió” után gyakorlatilag mindenki egyhangúan ódákat zengett az egész hanganyagről, így arról sokak számára teljesen ismeretlen énekesről is, aki nélkül Kátai Tamás zenekarának legutóbbi albuma sem lenne az, ami. Bakos Attila azonban cseppet sem ismeretlen, vagy kezdő a zenei szakmában. A tavalyi sikerek után idén nyáron megjelent Attila egyszemélyes zenekara, a Woodland Choir új albuma is.
